Housing. High rents, inadequate wages, and poor housing quality mean that many residents can’t afford their housing costs, live in unsafe housing, or end up unhoused. Everyone deserves access to safe, affordable housing. Top housing priorities should be de-commodifying housing to ensure that it remains affordable, limiting rental costs to prevent further displacement, providing lead remediation, and improving housing quality. Any new housing units should be sustainably built to reduce energy costs, decrease pollution, and withstand extreme weather events.
